Arrests made in pair of Lexington shootings

J'mari TaylorTwo people are charged in connection with a pair of recent shootings in Lexington. Investigators with the Lexington Police Department arrested 19-year-old J’mari Taylor Friday, charging him with Assault 1st, drug possession, possession of a stolen firearm and outstanding warrants. A 17-year-old male has been charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st.

The first shooting happened around noon Tuesday, May 21, in the area of Laredo and Walden Drive. Witnesses reported that multiple people in a car fired shots at individuals walking down the street, and a 17-year-old male was struck. On Wednesday, another shooting was reported in the same area, and a 34-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound.

Investigators determined that both shootings involved the same groups of people. This investigation is ongoing and other people may be charged. It should be noted that the gun J’mari Taylor is accused of possessing had been reported stolen from a vehicle.
