Police investigating Anderson Street homicide

Chanse RobertsonAugust 31 UPDATE – A Lexington man has been charged with Murder in a fatal shooting that occurred in May. Chanse Robertson, 35, is accused of killing William “Josh” Cole on May 22 on Anderson Street.

The homicide investigation revealed that a verbal altercation escalated between the suspect and victim, and Robertson shot Cole multiple times.

Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, detectives with the Lexington Police Department obtained a warrant for Robertson’s arrest. The warrant was served late Wednesday night by the Nicholasville Police Department.

Robertson is currently lodged in the Jessamine County Detention Center.

Previously released - The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Monday night on Anderson Street.

Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, officers were dispatched to the 1100-block of Anderson Street in reference to a shooting. Officers located a male victim lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital and later pronounced deceased. The Fayette County Coroner has identified the victim as 26-year-old William Cole of Lexington.

A black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt was seen leaving the area in a dark colored passenger car. Police have no additional suspect information or possible motive at this time.
