Police make homicide arrest

A Lexington man is under arrest for the murder of his girlfriend. William R. Pomeroy, 45, is charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence in connection with a homicide investigation that began Friday morning on Pinkney Drive.

Around 9:17 a.m. Friday, May 20, officers responded to a home in the 800-block of Pinkney Drive in reference to a missing person. The body of the victim, who has since been identified by the Fayette County Coroner as 43-year-old Amy Koegel, was located by officers in the backyard of a home where she lived with Mr. Pomeroy.

Family members reported last seeing Ms. Koegel on Wednesday evening.

Mr. Pomeroy turned himself in without incident Friday afternoon.
