Police investigating robbery and kidnapping case

The Lexington Police Department continues to investigate the robbery and kidnapping of a local store clerk.

On Thursday, April 19, officers responded to the Family Dollar store on Saron Drive. The clerk reported that after closing and locking up the business for the evening, he went next door to Walmart to purchase a few items. As he was walking to his car, the clerk said an unknown man approached him and brandished a handgun.

The man, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, punched the clerk and forced him to go back to Family Dollar and get money from the store safe. The victim complied with the suspect’s demands. After taking the cash, the suspect forced the clerk to drive him to the area of Man o’ War Boulevard and Armstrong Mill Road. The suspect then left the car and fled on foot.

Lexington Police today released surveillance video from the store in hopes of generating new leads in the investigation.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact police by calling (859) 258-3600.
