LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 12, 2017)—Kite enthusiasts and amateurs alike can celebrate National Kite Month at Lexington Parks & Recreation’s Kite Fest, noon – 4 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at Jacobson Park.
Kite Month is celebrated in April throughout the country. April was chosen because it symbolizes “hope, potential and joy.” Many people can be found flying their kites in early spring, eager to get outside and enjoy the warm weather.
New to the event this year, Lextran is offering bus service to Kite Fest. Service for the temporary bus stop will run from 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Stop locations will be located at the Transit Center on E. Vine Street, Main Street at Ashland Avenue, Richmond Road at Mount Tabor Road and the boat dock at Jacobson Park. Fare for each direction will be $1.
This free, family friendly event features activities including kite flying, kite making, children’s games and special entertainment. Performances this year include lessons for kids in Irish dance, hula hooping and zumba.
Bring a picnic lunch or purchase food at the park.
