The Lexington Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian on Leestown Road.
Shortly after noon today officers were dispatched to a collision on Leestown Road near Dolan Lane, across from the University Club of Kentucky golf course. Witnesses reported that a white SUV travelling outbound on Leestown veered off the roadway and struck a female pedestrian who was retrieving her garbage bins. The driver of the SUV did not stop, continuing on Leestown toward Scott County.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. She has been identified by the Fayette County Coroner's office as 46-year-old Stevonn Page of Lexington.
The driver, 47-year-old Michael Ray King of Winchester, was located and detained by the Scott County Sheriff’s office and Kentucky State Police. Lexington Police arrested King and charged him with Leaving the Scene of an Accident/Failure to Render Aid.
Leestown Road was shut down for approximately seven hours for collision reconstruction work. The investigation is ongoing.
