Parks & Recreation cancels programs, closes facilities

In a continuing effort to comply with Gov. Andy Beshear’s executive order and for the safety and health of our residents, Lexington Parks & Recreation will be canceling all programming through April 20, 2020. We thank you for your understanding and patience during these challenging times.

In order to help stop the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) we are closing all playgrounds, public restrooms in parks, parking lots connected to parks, golf courses, trails at McConnell Springs and Raven Run Nature Sanctuary, and high impact sports areas to include skateparks, tennis courts, basketball courts and volleyball courts.

Parks are open for running or walking, but please use social distancing. Stay 6 feet apart from others.

Programs/areas/events affected include:

  • Athletic leagues – Youth and adult programs
  • Natural areas – McConnell Springs and Raven Run Nature Sanctuary
  • Golf courses
  • Kite Fest
  • In-person swim lesson sign-ups
  • Jacobson boat dock
  • Rental facilities
