March 8, 2017 - Three people have been charged in connection with multiple robberies in the Cardinal Valley area.
Investigators with the Lexington Police Department today arrested Lucio Sanchez, 19, on four counts of Robbery 1st.
The other suspects in this investigation, a 17-year-old male and 20-year-old Lanisha Harris, were arrested on Saturday, March 4. The juvenile is charged with Robbery 1st (four counts), Receiving Stolen Property (firearm), Possession of Handgun by Minor, Resisting Arrest, Giving a False Name, and Possession of Marijuana. Harris is charged with two counts of Robbery 1st.
The crime spree the trio is suspected of being involved in happened in the overnight hours of Wednesday, March 1.
Shortly after midnight, a man told police that he had been approached by two individuals on Cambridge Drive. One of the suspects pulled out a gun and robbed the man of his wallet and belongings. As the victim ran away, the suspects fired multiple shots, striking the victim once in the arm.
About an hour later, officers responded to Oxford Circle where a victim reported that she had been robbed at gunpoint by two men and a woman. The victim told officers she was pushed to the ground and one of the suspects fired a shot at her. The shot missed and the suspects fled.
While officers were investigating the second robbery, they were flagged down by a man and woman who stated they were just robbed near Oxford Circle and Cambridge Drive. Their descriptions of the suspects matched what the victim in the previous incident had reported, that an armed robbery had been committed by two males and one female.
Police were later called to a business on Alexandria Drive around 6 a.m. in reference to a robbery with shots fired. A victim told officers that she and a friend were approached by two men who attempted to rob them and that one the suspects pulled out a gun and fired a shot. An employee of a nearby business came outside and attempted to stop the suspects, but one of the suspects began firing several shots before eventually fleeing the area.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Sanchez and the juvenile as suspects in all four incidents and determined that Harris was involved in two of the robberies.
