A man wanted for robbing a woman at gunpoint in a hospital parking garage Thursday evening has been apprehended. Jody Lee Shipman, 27, was arrested Friday by the Fayette County Sheriff’s office.
Shipman is accused of brandishing a handgun in the St. Joseph Hospital parking garage around 5:15 p.m. Thursday, February 7 and forcing a woman to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash. Through evidence recovered during the course of the investigation, detectives with the Lexington Police Department identified Shipman as the suspect and obtained a warrant for Robbery 1st.
Shipman is also charged with a second count of Robbery 1st and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card for an incident that occurred Jan. 23 on Foreman Avenue. In that case, Shipman and another man approached a woman in a parking lot, briefly stole her car, and were later caught on surveillance video using the victim’s credit card at a gas station.
Additionally, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office charged Shipman with Possession of Burglary Tools, Criminal Trespassing 2nd, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after he was located at a home on Gladman Way Friday night.
