A Lexington man is charged in the fatal shooting following a domestic dispute. Investigators with the Lexington Police Department today charged Morgan Johnson, 21, with Murder, Kidnapping, Rape 1st, and Burglary 1st.
On Tuesday February 6, at approximately 9:55 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a shooting on 3500-block of Squires Woods Way. Upon arrival officers observed a male victim lying unresponsive on the front porch with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was removed away from the house and into the care of the Lexington Fire department personnel, who advised he was deceased. He has been identified by the Fayette County Coroner's office as Christopher Spencer, 19.
The suspect in the shooting was also holding a female against her will inside of the apartment. The police department's Emergency Response Unit along with the Crisis Negotiation Unit responded to the scene and began negotiations with Johnson. After several hours of negotiations, Johnson and the female exited the residence, and Johnson was taken into custody at approximately 12:45 a.m.
Johnson is lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
