Updated - Double shooting kills one, injures another

UPDATE- An arrest has been made in the Garden Springs double shooting. Investigators with the Lexington Police Department have arrested a 16-year-old male, charging him with Murder, Assault 1st, and Robbery 1st.  

Detectives determined that the suspect and the victims were acquaintances.  The juvenile is currently lodged in the Fayette Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a double shooting that led to the death of a teenage boy and seriously wounded another.

Shortly after 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 2100-block of Garden Springs Drive. Two 15-year-old male victims were located with gunshot wounds. One victim died at the scene. The second victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe a drug transaction led up to the shooting. Police continue to gather information about a possible suspect and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
