Police investigating apparent murder-suicide

February 4, 2017 - The Lexington Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of two people on Friday as a murder-suicide.

Around 7:40 p.m., Friday, February 3, officers were dispatched to a home on King Arthur Drive, where a 13-year-old male had asked the homeowner for help. The boy was suffering gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Officers located the scene of the shooting at a home on Whispering Hills Drive. The body of a 44-year-old man was found outside the home with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A 32-year-old woman was found inside the home deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

Preliminary indications are that the two adults were having an argument when the man shot the woman. When the 13-year-old went upstairs to see what happened, the man shot him, but the victim was able to run to a nearby home.

The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition. Names of the deceased will be released by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
