Arrest made in shooting death of 15-year-old

January 19, 2017 - Investigators with the Lexington Police Department have made an arrest in a fatal shooting that occurred on Belmont Drive. Officers today charged a 16-year-old male with Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Robbery 1st in connection with the death of 15-year-old Robert Durrum.

Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, officers responded  to the area of Belmont and Preakness Drive for a report of an assault with a weapon. Officers located the victim lying in the street suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Durrum was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Through the course of the investigation, officers were able to identify and locate the suspect based on information gathered from witnesses and the victim himself. Detectives determined that the victim and suspect were acquaintances. During a meeting between the two, an altercation ensued, leading up to the shooting.
