McConnell Springs Program Calendar

Visitors to McConnell Springs can enjoy new programs each month. Programs will cover a wide variety of topics and will assist visitors in learning more about the natural and cultural history of the area. Printable version (PDF)

September 2019

  • September 10  | 6 p.m. |  History to Chew On | Local historians and authors will discuss specific events that have shaped our local history.  Refreshments are provided but attendees are encouraged to bring their dinner.  Topic TBA.  Please call the park to register.
  • September 11  | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. | Story Walk  |  This is a self-guided, stroller-friendly walk intended for youth up to age 5.
  • September 18 | 11 a.m. |  Tiny Tot Naturalist: Talkin' Trees |  A guided walk and craft related to the topic.  Intended for children that are Pre-K, please call the park to register.   
  • September 21  | 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. |  Junior Naturalis: Talkin' Trees  |  Two guided walks at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., topic-related activities available at any time throughout the day.  For youth K-5th grade, please call the park to register for a walk.
  • September 28  | 10 a.m. |  Weekend Workout |  An opportunity for everyone to help clean the park and maintain the trails.rs. 

October 2019

  • October 5  | 6 p.m. |  Camp Fire Social and Candle Light Hike  |  Join the staff as we gather around the campfire and make s'mores.  Then enjoy a guided candlelight hike through the park.  Please call the park to register.

  • October 19  | 1 - 5 p.m. |  Little Goblins Galore |  Join us in your customer for trick or treating along the trail! This event is for youth ages 12 and under. $6 per child 12 & under | $2 for those 13 & older

  • October 27  |  3 p.m.  | Trail Blazers  |  Join the staff at McConnell Springs as we look for seasonal changes and signs for wildlife in the park.  Open to all ages. 

November 2019

  • November 2 | 9:30 a.m. |  Wood Carving - Fairy House |  The Lexington Wood Carvers Guild will provide all materials and teach participants how to carve a Fairy House.  Space is limited, please call to register, Cost is $10 per person.

  • November 16  | 10 a.m. & 2 p.m. |  Junior Naturalist: Turkey Trot |  Walks are available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. with activities available all day. For youth K–5th grade. Please call to register.
  • November 16  |  5 p.m.  |  Owl Prowl  |  Join Dr. Tom Sproat from Critters in the Classroom for a unique owl prowl experience that will include live owls then a guided hike.  Space is limited, please call to register.  Program sponsored by the Friends of McConnell Springs. 
  • November 23  | 10 a.m. |  Weekend Workout |  An opportunity for everyone to help clean the park and maintain the trails.
