How to apply (internal candidates)

Here are steps to apply and complete an online LFUCG job application, for internal candidates. 


Step 1: Go to the City’s intranet (Lex Link) and sign into PeopleSoft with your username and password. Contact the IT Help Desk at (859) 258-3730 if you do not have one.

Step 2: Inside Main Menu under Human Resources select “Self Services” and then under Recruiting select Careers.

Step 3: Select View All Jobs and then check the box next the job(s) you wish to apply and select Apply for Job.

Step 4: Start application by checking box next to I agree to the Terms and Conditions and then select “Next.”

Step 5: If you adding a resume, click Attach Resume and follow instructions. Using an existing resume, click Use Existing Resume and follow instructions. Otherwise, select “Next.”

A resume cannot be submitted in place of an application. Our system does not automatically populate the application upon upload of a resume. You may copy and paste information from your resume into the specified areas of the application.

Step 6: Complete the “Job Preferences” section. Select “Next.”

Step 7: Complete all of the remaining application sections in detail by clicking the + (plus) symbol or the box “Add…”. After each added entry is completed select “DONE” and continue with entry until all application sections are completed. Select “Next.” 

The remaining sections include:

  • Education and Work Experience
  • Questionnaire (includes questions specific to the job(s) you are applying for)
  • Applicant References
  • Review and Submit

Step 8: (Optional) 

If you have additional attachments, such as a cover letter, select “Careers Home” and then select “My Career Tools” and upload your attachment(s). Select the job you are applying under the “Application” section. 

Step 9:  Select “Save for Later” to save the application to work on later or select “Save & Submit” to submit your application.

Things to remember

  • You cannot change an application after you have submitted it. However, you can contact Human Resources prior to filing deadline to request a Disposition change allowing you to make changes.

  • Only those applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for the position for which they have applied will be considered. For questions concerning the minimum qualifications for each position, please refer to the job posting.
