Mayor plans Social Media Conversations
Posted Date: 7/24/2012
Mayor Jim Gray invites citizens to join him in a Social Media Town Hall conversation on Facebook and Twitter. There are two opportunities to engage in the conversation … both on Wednesday, July 25th. The first begins at 11:30 a.m., concluding at 1:00 p.m. The second from 6:30 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. Join the conversation on Twitter with #lexideas or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/JimGrayLexKY.

The Social Media Town Hall will continue our search for the best ideas for Lexington, Gray said. “It’s all part of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayor’s Challenge,” Gray said. “Through Bloomberg's foundation, he's searching for innovative local solutions to national problems. Bloomberg created the Mayors Challenge to celebrate creative problem solving and innovation that's happening in cities from coast to coast.”

The best five "greatest potential" ideas from cities across America will win funding from Bloomberg, along with national recognition. One project will win $5 million. Four others will win $1 million each.

“The prize money would be great, but any way you look at the Mayor's Challenge, it's a win-win for Lexington,” Gray said. “We’ll gather good ideas that represent opportunity and challenge. We'll encourage the spirit of continuous improvement and take another step forward in our work to Build a Great American City.”

Citizens are invited to submit ideas by August 1 through the city’s “What is your $5 million idea?” webpage found at http://www.lexingtonky.gov. You’ll also find more information on the site. Or you’re welcome to use the application form on the website and mail your idea to Mayor’s Challenge, City Hall, 200 E. Main St., Lexington, KY, 40507.
