
REACH, Inc., in partnership with Lexington – Fayette Urban County Government, celebrated the agency’s 500th first – time homebuyer to purchase a home in Fayette County. Since 1995, REACH’s Down Payment Assistance program has utilized federal HOME funds to subsidize the mortgage financing of low – to – moderate income residents.
REACH is a nonprofit affordable housing development agency in Lexington with a mission to assist low- to moderate-income individuals and families in becoming financially self-sufficient and obtaining affordable housing. REACH is a HUD- approved counseling agency which provides pre-purchase counseling, budget and credit counseling, post-purchase education, predatory lending education and mortgage delinquency counseling.
“The 500th first – time homebuyer in Lexington is a significant milestone for our program,” said Chris Ford, agency president and chief executive officer. “REACH has been successful in leveraging the support of governmental and banking partners, for the benefit of worthy and deserving residents of our community”. Including housing activity in Fayette County, REACH has assisted a cumulative total of 759 homebuyers throughout its 13 – county service region.
REACH held a press announcement on Tuesday, April 3, at the Lexington - Fayette Government Center, 200 East Main Street, Lexington. The program featured representatives from Mayor Jim Gray’s administration, Vice Mayor Linda Gorton, Kentucky Housing Corporation, and the Lexington Housing Authority. .
