Appliances

Residents who have city waste collection service can request a pickup of appliances by calling LexCall at 311 or (859) 425-2255.

There is no charge for picking up these appliances. Appliances containing Freon will be accepted, but appliances containing oil are not. Pickups are normally made within five business days of your request. This service is for households only.

Acceptable appliances

  • Air conditioners
  • Freezers
  • Refrigerators
  • Water heaters
  • Washers 
  • Dryers
  • Stoves 
  • Dishwashers
  • Furnaces

Before pick up

You should:

  • Remove doors from refrigerators and freezers
  • Place appliance at the curb for collection

Unaccepted appliances

The city does not offer curbside collection for:

  • humidifiers
  • TVs
  • microwaves
  • computers 
  • printers
  • other electronics


These items can be taken to the Electronic Recycling Center.

Appliance drop-off

All Fayette County residents and apartment complexes can recycle appliances at no cost by dropping them off to Environmental Recycling Inc.
