The Lexington Fayette Urban County Government is working to make Lexington a more walkable and bike-friendly city. Often overlooked and underrated, bicycling and walking can be simple and pleasurable ways to stay healthy while protecting our environment and reconnecting with our community. Whether you are considering bike commuting, recreational riding, or looking for a way to stay fit, we hope to provide you with the resources and infrastructure you need to bike and walk Lexington.

BFC AwardLexington Named Bike-Friendly Community

Andy Clark, Executive Director of the League of American Bicyclists, announced on September 21, 2007 that Lexington acheiveda 'Bronze Level' Bike-Friendly Community award. The announcement came during the 2007 Bike Summit.

Clark complimented the vibrant and growing bike culture, events, programs and financial commitments that have placed Lexington on par with other bike-friendly cities. The bronze award is recognition for the progress that has been made and encouragement to continue reaching for silver, gold and platinum status.
