Message from Mayor Newberry
More than 300 mayors with the U.S. Conference of Mayors have joined the campaign against breast cancer, working together with the Centers for Disease Control and prevention.
The Mayor’s Breast Cancer Task Force encour- ages early detection of breast cancer and seeks to increase both awareness of the disease and screening opportunities in our community. I heartily support its efforts.
In Lexington, there are many different agencies and organizations dedicated to the prevention and cure of breast cancer that are involved with this task force.
I urge you to support their efforts. By working together we can make an impact on the lives of people who are diagnosed with this disease.

The screenings will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department's Public Helath Clinic South, 2433 Regency Road. Services will be provided on a sliding-scale based on income.
The screening is intended primarily to help women 40 and older who are underinsured or uninsured, as well as women who have not been screened in more than five years.
