Free showing at the newly renovated Kentucky Theatre

Despicable Me 2: In this computer animated comedy sequel film to Despicable Me, Gru is recruited by the anti-villain league to help deal with a new super criminal. Come and see the antics of Gru, Dr. Nefario and those little yellow henchmen – the Minions. The movie is rated PG and stars Steve Carrell, Russell Brand, Kristin Wiig, and Miranda Cosgrove.

Doors will open at 9 a.m., with children’s activities until the movie starts at 10 a.m.. Prizes will be offered.

Family Care Center 25thTickets: While admission is free, you must have a ticket to attend the showing. You can register online at, print out your ticket or show your ticket by phone at the Kentucky Theatre when arriving for the movie. A limited number of tickets will be available at the theater box office beginning June 12.

The film is sponsored by Lexington’s Family Care Center as part of its 25th anniversary year celebration. The Center offers a four star rated Child Care Center, a Parent Education Component, a UK Pediatric Clinic and the HANDS home visitation program for new and expectant parents. The Center, which opened in 1989, appreciates the community support over the past 25 years!

Parking: Street parking will be free. You can also park for free in the Phoenix Center parking lot between Vine and Water streets. There will be a charge to park in the Helix Garage on Main Street or in the Transit Center Garage located between High and Vine Street.
