"This is an ongoing studio class for all levels of drawing students. Drawing may be enjoyed as a medium on its own or used as preparatory training for painting or sculpting.
Each student will be instructed at his/her own level and at his/her own pace.
The novice student will be introduced to line drawing and drawing without line. First, the student will be introduced to sight size drawing principles and practices. (Sight size drawing is drawing the subject at the same size as it actually is.) Next, the student will learn to render light and shade in drawing simple geometric objects. By learning the drawing habits of masters, students will develop their drawing skills and visual intelligence at an accelerated pace.
The intermediate level student will focus more on drawing without lines and shape perception skills. Students will be working with masses rather than lines, carving out shapes with charcoal and an eraser, just as a painter blocks in colors in a painting. The class will draw a face, an animal and a landscape to realize that with the skills acquired through looking at shapes, anything can be drawn successfully. Students will be given increasingly more complex patterns of images to challenge their perceptional skills and improve their drawing. This course is foundational to those who wish to learn to paint.
More advanced students will be coached individually in areas of their own choosing. This is an excellent opportunity for the experienced, but “rusty”, artist to get back into the habits of the masters."Click here for more information.
