The Lexington Division of Emergency Management’s AM radio service, Radio Lexington, is now available online via Internet streaming audio. The audio stream can be accessed through the division’s website at www.bereadylexington.com or www.lexingtonky.gov/dem.
“We now have four low power transmitters in Fayette County and will be adding at least one more in the next year,” said DEM Division Director, Pat Dugger. “During non-emergency times, the station broadcasts tourism, traffic and general event information relevant to the traveling public. During an emergency, we will re-broadcast information from the local NOAA weather radio station or our own information that will be specific to emergency events and needs in Fayette County.”
The low-power broadcast stations operate at 1620 AM. Reception is best along the I-75 and I-64 corridors, along New Circle Road and Versailles Road between Red Mile Road and the Woodford County line.
