Posted Date: 5/15/2012 1:15 PM

Snack StrongCaitlyn Smith, a second grader at Wellington Elementary School, won the Better Bites Needs a Slogan contest. Her prize: lunch with Mayor Jim Gray, $100 and two pool passes to Lexington’s public pools. The winning slogan is "Snack Strong."  WATCH VIDEO

With over 625 slogan submission from entrants ranging in age from 5-74 years old, it was a tough pick. Some of the slogans made us smile: Better Bites, Not Just for Vampires; Eat, Play, Love; Winners, Not Wieners; and Better Bites. Better People. There were rhymes: No More Slackin’ On Your Snackin’. Alliteration: Snippy Snacks and Nicer Nibbles. Pool references—Dive into Delicious, Lap it up. And some great puns: Parks Food That Won’t ‘Rec’ You.” Thanks to all who submitted a slogan.

Look for Better Bites at Southland and Woodland Aquatic Centers all summer long and at Castlewood and Shillito pools on weekends. Fruit +Yogurt parfaits, red grapes, apples, bananas, sunflower seeds and chicken and grilled cheese sandwiches on whole wheat are just a few of the new offerings. You’ll also see Better Bites at the Lexington Legends Whitaker Bank Ball Park and the Beaumont YMCA.

Thanks to Caitlyn for giving us a slogan to remember: Snack Strong, Lexington!
