Celebrating its 27th anniversary this year, Ballet Under the Stars is one of Central Kentucky’s most anticipated events of the summer. This unique festival allows audiences to enjoy the beauty and grandeur of a professional ballet in the relaxed, casual setting of the park.
The event will begin with a pre-show youth production of Tinkerbell and the Pirates at 8 p.m. followed by the main show featuring professional dancers from Kentucky Ballet Theatre.
Lawn chairs and/or blankets should be brought for seating and patrons may pack a picnic dinner or purchase concessions onsite. Admission is $5 per person, children 3 & under are free. For more information, please call 288-2925.
Ballet Under the Stars is presented by Lexington Parks & Recreation, the Ballet Under the Stars Volunteer Committee and Don Jacobs Honda/BMW/Volkswagen.
This year’s Ballet Under the Stars pre-show production will be Tinkerbell and the Pirates. The pre-show is a wonderful chance for young dancers from all area dance schools to come together in Kentucky’s premier outdoor ballet event. This is truly a community production and an excellent opportunity to showcase the young talent and quality dance instruction of central Kentucky.
All interested male and female ballet students between the ages of 7 and 18 who have had at least two years of dance training that includes ballet instruction are encouraged to audition. All those who audition are accepted; the audition merely determines their role in the program.
For more information, see the pre-show application or contact Mindy Stone at 259-288-2925 or email@example.com.
In celebration of the Ballet Under the Stars pre-show, Lexington Parks and Recreation is hosting a series of tea parties for children ages 3-8. Each night, Friday–Sunday, from 6–7 p.m., children can wear their favorite tiara, tutu, princess, or fairy dress and enjoy a fantastical, fun-filled evening. All attendees will meet the cast, learn a special dance, plus enjoy food, party favors and face-painting. Be sure to bring your camera so you can take your child's picture with the cast..
