LexingtonKy.gov : Incentive Grant Program

The Stormwater Quality Projects Incentive Grant Program provides financial assistance for projects in the community that improve water quality, address stormwater runoff and educate the public about these issues.

We are now accepting applications for some FY 2014 projects. The expected budget for FY 2014 is $1.2 million.

The Division of Water Quality will receive the applications and make recommendations for project selection. Projects will be ranked based upon project impact, project team and other factors. The Water Quality Fees Board, a citizen’s board appointed by the Mayor, will review all recommendations and make the final selection on all grant awards.

Class B Infrastructure Grants

Eligibility
Open to owners and tenants of non-farm, non-single family residential facilities such as businesses, schools, churches and non-profits located in Fayette County that pay the Water Quality Management Fee.

Grant Award
Construction-only and design and construction projects have a maximum grant award of $350,000 with a 10% cost share for design phase costs. Feasibility projects have a maximum grant award of $50,000 with a 10% cost share.

Grant Selection
Grant selection is anticipated in October 2013. Award of grants by Urban County Council is anticipated in February 2014.

Class A Neighborhood Grants - closed

Eligibility
Open to Fayette County neighborhood, community, and homeowner associations incorporated with the Commonwealth of Kentucky that represent single family homeowners or farms who pay the Water Quality Management Fee.

Grant Award
Projects may be funded up to $100,000 with a required 20% cost share of total project cost in cash or in-kind donation.

Class B Education Grants - closed

Grant Award
The maximum grant award is $35,000. For the first $2,500, no cost share is required. Above that, a 50% cost share is required. Projects under $2,500 require no cost share.

How was this program developed?
A workgroup comprised of members of the business, development, education and neighborhood communities developed the guidelines for the Incentive Grant Program in the latter part of 2009.
