A native of London, KY, Jamie Emmons has called Lexington home since 1999. After graduating from the University of Kentucky he began his career leading political candidates and ballot initiatives throughout Kentucky in his father's firm, Emmons & Company. He moved to lead Vice-Mayor Jim Gray's campaign for Mayor after working with Kentucky House Speaker Greg Stumbo in the State Capitol through four legislative sessions. Mayor-elect Gray selected Jamie to be his Chief of Staff in November 2010.

Kevin Atkins, a native of Hopkinsville, KY, has more than 25 years experience in government at the federal and local levels. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Public Management from Austin Peay State University he began his career working in the Office of the Mayor in Hopkinsville, KY. Kevin then served for more than 20 years on the staff of United States Senator Mitch McConnell, working with business and governmental leaders throughout the central Kentucky region. Mayor Jim Gray named Atkins Chief Development Officer in January 2011. Kevin and his wife, Karen, live in Lexington.

Susan Straub is a Lexington native. Her career has included work in newspapers, local and state government and higher education. Susan has two sons and two grandchildren. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky.

Scott Shapiro comes to the Mayor’s office having just earned a masters in public administration degree at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Before returning to school to pursue a new direction in public service, Scott co-owned a consulting company and was a senior executive with a health care organization. He lives in Lexington with his wife, a high-risk obstetrician at UK, and three boys.

Chris Corcoran is an expert in data driven Cities, having previously worked for Mayor Bloomberg’s NYC office of data analytics. Chris’ background includes work in management consulting for energy clients, and corporate strategy for two high-tech startups. A native of Danville, Chris received his bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard College.

Lori Houlihan moved from Whitesville, KY to Lexington in 1981 to attend the University of Kentucky. Upon graduating, she began a twenty-year career in retail management in the downtown area, including 13 years of operating her own small business. She is a founding member of Local First Lexington, a grassroots business organization and in 2008, formed the March Madness Marching Band to celebrate and participate in Central Kentucky civic and cultural activities. Lori lives in Lexington with her husband, Hap, and their two sons.

Brenna Angel is a Lexington native. She comes to the Mayor’s office after working several years as a radio news reporter. She has also taught public speaking and interpersonal communication at Bluegrass Community & Technical College. Brenna earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University and a master’s in communication from the University of Louisville. She and her husband have one son.

Wes Holbrook is a Lexington native. After two years with Teach for America, he returned home to continue his public service career and worked at the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. He earned an undergraduate degree in History from the University of Kentucky, where he was also a Gaines Fellow. He is currently completing graduate work at UK in public administration. Wes and his wife, Lacye, live in Lexington.

 

Ashton Potter Wright

Ashton Potter Wright, a Lexington native, holds a Doctor of Public Health degree from the University of Kentucky College of Public Health. Ashton has both local and national-level public health experience. While working on her doctorate, she had the opportunity to engage in farm to school research in Eastern Kentucky and community-based prevention marketing research and Better Bites and Good Neighbor Store program implementation aimed at improving healthy food access with the Tweens Nutrition and Fitness Coalition in Lexington. Ashton recently completed a fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta where she served as the operations manager for First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Child Care campaign. She also currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors of the Tweens Nutrition and Fitness Coalition.

 

Maureen Watson

Maureen Watson is a native and lifelong resident of Lexington, KY. She has been with the Lexington- Fayette Urban County Government for more than 20 years. She served as the legislative aide to former Vice Mayor Jim Gray and now joins him in his capacity as Mayor of Lexington. Maureen and her husband, Michael, have three adult children and four grandchildren.
