  • Mayor Newberry and Allmendinger announce Spotlight plans
    Richard Petty Motorsports driver AJ Allmendinger joined Mayor Jim Newberry today to announce that Lexington will honor Spotlight Lexington volunteers by emblazoning their names on the hood of the “Dinger’s” No. 43 Valvoline Ford Fusion. The names will fly around the track at Talladega Oct. 31, part of the Sprint Cup series

    LexTran awarded $5 million for northside development
    July 19- In a news conference today, LexTran officials were joined by Mayor Jim Newberry to announce the award of a nearly $5.1 million federal grant for improvements to the LexTran property at the corner of North Limestone Street and Loudon Avenue.

    Mayor awards water quality incentive grants
    July 14- A multi-cell rain garden, educational workshops and stream cleaning are just a few of the projects funded by stormwater quality incentive grants awarded to local organizations today by Mayor Jim Newberry.

    New UK Chandler Hospital Emergency Department opens July 14
    July 12- A ceremony celebrating the completion of the new emergency department at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital —Central and Eastern Kentucky's only Level 1 Trauma Center — was held today.

    Today is last chance to register for disaster assistance
    July 12- Today, Monday, July 12, is the last day Kentuckians who were affected by the severe storms and flooding of early May can register for disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). 

    Mayor Newberry announces the 2011 EcoART grant program
    July 1- Local artists will again have the opportunity to creatively educate citizens on environmental issues through the EcoART grant program, Mayor Jim Newberry and LexArts President Jim Clark announced today.
